tire height question??

tire height question??
I am considering purchasing 245/50/18 tires for my MAX, can anyone give me some input as far as me running into any issues, (performance problems or tire clearance issues)?
is the difference from the stock 245/45/18 to 245/50/18 that significant that it might cause problems?
thanks for you help!

245=the width of the tire in mm
45=45% of 245 as the sidewall
18=size of tire
So going from a 45 to a 50 would just result in a thicker sidewall, which would result in a slight decrease in handling turns but a slight increase in ride quality.

Why would you not get tock size? It would throw the speedometer and odometer off. Thicker sidewall would most likely mean softer ride and handling. As far as clearance, the tire would be about 1/2 thicker and 1 inch taller.

RHMax is right on. A 245/45/18 is 26.68 inches tall. A 245/50/18 is 27.65 inches tall. That is a 3.62% increase in the tire height. At 60 mph, it will throw off your speedometer by 2 mph. If your speedometer reads 60 mph, you'd actually be going 62 mph. The taller tire will also flex more in turns and hurt the car's response and handling.
