6th Gen 17's on 4th Gen
6th Gen 17's on 4th Gen
Hey guys, I just put some 6th gen wheels and tires on my 96, tires were only used for 500 miles. I got them locally
Anyways I drove the car a little bit afterwards and went up and down my driveway bump (alty is dead so no long drives for now). They seemed fine, the drivers front rubbed a little bit, but its like brushing not full fledged rubbing (car was hit on that side before I owned it so maybe its just a bump from the wreck?), the pass was fine. So my question is I should have no problem with these right? (I'm new to the whole tire size thing) They look sweet! I used to have the 95-96 hubcaps that were ridiculously ugly haha..
Thanks guys!
Thanks guys!

Take your hand and see how much space you have between the inside of the tire(s) and the wheel well(s) when straight AND when turned all the way to left & right....
Should give you an idea if you need to add spacers or not, to stop the "brushing"

maxima985spd: Your max is looking extra low! ;-) The way it should be!
Alright Thanks Maxima985spd & Ewuzh. So will rubbing a little bit here and there hurt anything but the tire itself? Also will my speed be high or low on my speedo? Thanks guys...
rubbing is not good... it can hurt more than the tire, depending on how sever it is, and if you hit a big bump and it really drives the tire into the fender if can screw something up. Get the right size tires!
Your speedo will register that you are travelling slower than you really are.
I would definately SELL the tires and replace them with 225/50/17 or even 235/45/17 tires.
I know that it may cost a little more cash, but they are the wrong size- you cannot fix that.
