Nitto NT-01

since nobody has posted in my other thread, im gonna ask the question here.

What kind of experience does anybody have with the Nitto NT-01? anywhere from drag experience to everyday use and autocross. preferrably drag racing though because that is what i am planning to buy them for

autocross tires and drag tires are VERY different animals....

autocross/road race slicks are going to have VERY stiff sidewalls to prevent deflection of the tread surface, and the footprint. They are also typically ran at fairly high psi to keep them that way.

drag slicks have a very soft sidewall, AND very low psi to keep the footprint of the tire as maximal as possible.

Nitto and BFG both make drag radials, that is what you want. The NT-01 is a "road race" tire not a "drag" tire.

thanks for the info, been hard to find a drag radial in the right size, but im lookin at kumhoV710's and Hankook ventus z214, both are designated DOT drag radials, and are basically slicks. thanks for your help

None of the tires you are mentioning are designed for drag racing... If you want a DR stop looking at R-compounds which are designed for AutoX and or road course racing. You need to be looking at Nitto 555R Drag Radials (NOT the 555R-II, that is a road race tire), BFG g-Force T/A Drag Radial and g-Force T/A Drag Radial 2, Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials, Hoosier D.O.T Drag Radials, M&H Drag Radial, Toyo Drag Radials (I've never seen a set of these in the states but I know they exist overseas), etc.

You are looking at the wrong tires.

What sort of size are you looking for and are you looking for a tire that you are going to run all the time on the street, or JUST going to put them on for the track?

these are track designated tires. the reason i have been noting those tires is because they seem to be the only ones i find in the right size. i have been using 225/50 17 stock tires, but i need to get better grip, and i want a different size since i have been shifting about 100yds from the line. these seem to be the only tires that i find in 245/45 16 or 265/45 16. do you think a 27" tire would be too tall? its a inch taller than the tires ive been using, so i should get easier traction out of the hole but worse acceleration. if i wanted 255/50 16's i would have the selection of about 30 tires, but since i dont want a 26" tall tire, my choices are seriously limited
