Rear wheel studs, threads and spacers
Rear wheel studs, threads and spacers
OK. I have put G35 rims on my car. Previously, I had H&R spacers up front to clear my Blehmco BBK. With the new rims, these spacers are no longer needed.
I noticed that putting these 5MM spacers on the back make it look pretty dog gone close to flush.
I have been searching for safety issues related to how many threads are necessary for a "safe" lug. Matt93se said a MINIMUM of 9 threads (which I am assuming is one complete rotation of the lug). Since he deals in metal, I figure that’s a good point of advice.
Currently I can only get 5 turns and when I torque it down to 80 FT/LBS, I get about 6 total turns. Obviously not enough. Is it possible to get REAR lugs longer to accommodate the necessary length? I can purchase an H&R kit for 60 some bucks just to get the lugs (don’t need the spacer).
Is there a cost effective solution to getting just rear lugs?

i was running 7mm spacers with OE studs with no problems. i just rechecked them once a month. 7mm is pushing it, but with 5mm you should be alright. although I'd HIGHLY recommend getting extended studs, even if it is a 5mm spacer.
