NEED HELP!!! making wheels fit ( using wheel adapters)

The other day I picked up some Mille Milgas Evo 5's 18X8 with and off set I think of 45+ for my 01 max. When I got them ( off of craigs list) the guy told me they may not fit but I thought it would not be a big deal since I could always just go ahead and and get wheel adapters ( 5X114.3 to 5X100). The problem is that wheel adapter that I have been finding all seem to come by factory default 1 inch thick. My car is currently on KYB GR2's with Tien S techs. When I measured everything there will only be 1 inch of clearance between the fender and the rear tires. I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of anyone modifying wheel adapter ( cutting them by 1/2 inch)? Will I need a camber kit? Will I need to change my springs? Is there anyway to make everything fit perfect?

1 inch equates to an effective +17 offset. The wheels will be flush in the rear and stick out 12mm ish in the front...

They come in 1 inch for a reason, I would scrap the idea and sell the wheels...unless you don't mind the pokeage in the front
