New wheels on, need help on tire sizes puhlease!

Hey guys I am a Nissan Tech and just picked up these 6th Gen? Maxima wheels with no rubber and put some beater tires we had at work from a Volvo S60R. They are 235/40R18s but obviously something has to be done. I saw another A32 at work with chrome rims and 245/45r18s and looked really meaty and nice, it had no drop. Now here's the thing, I really wanna drop it for obvious reasons but the wife is preggers so she has a hard time gettin out of it as it is so for now it will remain stock height. Can you guys recommend me a good tire size that will not look too horrible with no drop but will also look good once i do decide to drop it?

Would you guys know anyone who also has these wheels on a A32 and kindly point me to their direction. So far i've haven't been able to find anyone else!

Ill take better pics tomorrow if it helps.

What do ya think?

a 4th gen with 245/45-18's? that sidewall is too large. preferrably on a 18x8, a 235/40 is recommended. depending if the tire runs wide or not, you can run a 245/40. a 45 aspect ratio is too tall for us; thats why it looked "meaty." one thing thats for sure is that you need a drop.

Thanks for the help guys. I do have a brand new Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 245/45ZR18 from a Corvette we had in the showroom that had a nail. They made us replace the tire even though car only had 10 miles for safety reasons. Anyways i tried to mount it on these wheels but it was super hard for some reason. At first i thought it was because maybe the tire is too wide. But my coworker who owns a C5 Vette told me its the tires (i guess they're runflats), the sidewalls are too stiff and to not mount them because i'd have a hell of a time dismounting them as does he when its time for new tires.

Do you guys know the specs on my rims? Are they 8 inches wide or 7.5? So you guys think a 245/40 would look better? Im trying to buy tires soon just want to know a good size. Also what kinda drop would you recommend, nothing extreme or expensive, maybe just some drop springs? I already have some KYBs on there.

sounds like you need to do some research. if you don't even know what you have and haven't taken the time to figure it out why should we?

Thanks for the help. I realize i am new to the forums and yes I do need to do research however since I was in a time crunch and really want to buy tires asap I figured i'd ask some of you veterans for some help. I moderate several other boards so I know the whole routine trust me. But if its too much trouble I understand.

I guess my main concern is finding a good tire size for the time being, i can research my drop later. Thanks guys.

i guess, but you really could have taken the time to note the widths at the very least while the wheels were off the car.

there's no way to give you an absolute recommendation without a bare minimum of info. i can tell you you're gonna be runing a 40 series for oem(ish) o.d. i can also tell you that the size you have on there is 99% likely to be the right one, since that wheel is probably a 7-8" being as it's oem. you want 100% provide 100% of the information.

Thanks again for the help. You right i should have measured the rims, I was in a hurry because we were closing and the manager needed to leave on time so i had to hussle. But ill do that here soon, measure the rim. I've gotta say though, these tires do fit nicely im just wondering if i should go one aspect ratio size larger like 235/45, that'd prob look better I suppose.

Oh and thanks for the drop links

Alright fellas thanks for the help again, after reading numerous threads on tire sizes it appears you guys really like the 235/40R18 size best and according to the tire size calculator its pretty dead on to stock size so the speedo will be pretty accurate. I just went ahead and bought the tires, thanks.

Im also looking around for drop springs. Mr****s recommended some H&Rs so i suppose ill go that route since i already have some KYBs on there.

235/40/18 on a 18x7.5-18x8 is pretty much exactly what you'd want to maintain the OEM O.D.

I am pretty sure those wheels are 18x8 +30's. I am a tech at a nissan dealership, i believe that is a factory optioned wheel for the 350z. In which case 235/40/18 is perfect. If you were so inclined to do so, you *could* step it up to a 245/40, but really there is no point, if you already have 235/40's on there.

If you want a nice daily driveable spring, thats not jarring, and not too low, try either H&R or Tein H-Techs. Your max needs a drop bad!

Sweet man thanks. Yeah so ill basically just buy 2 new tires cuz 2 of the Pirellis i got on there now measure 7/32" so ill throw those in back and the new ones on front.

Now on drops, I see on ebay the brand "ZENN"? Any good? Im not going to be autocrossing my max or racing or anything, they claim 2/2 drop. Under $100 shipped, sound too good to be true? Im kinda tight for money right now, seems like a good choice, seller has like 99% positive feedback.

So your a Nissan Tech also? Sweet, how many years you been wrenchin on em? About 5 for me now, im 1 auto tranny class away from being a Master Tech and im only 24 but we all know its not too hard lol. Are you guys a GTR dealer? My old dealer was but i quit there after 3 years to a union dealer with way better benefits but its not a GTR dealer
