I'm planning to get new tires need some advice on size

I am pretty sure I have 225/35/zr20's on. I'm thinking of doing 225/40zr 20's.

Is this possible? I went to the miata site and we'll it look like it was possible.

Any help would be appreciated.

225's on 20's? wow. just wow. how wide are they? 6.5"?? weak. get some wider wheels and meatier tires unless you're slammed.

We'll im looking at tires and most of them are 225...? I'm pretty sure mine are 225. Where can I find some "meatier" tires? i'm trying to get a 40 series tire around the shoes. I'm wondering if thats possible. 5.5 gen black

KINDA tall wont be TOO bad, plus im getting some new illuminas/rubber bushing/dust boots so im hoping with a 40 series it'd ride as smooth as I can anyway.

Mr****, any idea on a good place to get some meatier tires right now?

Thanks bud

you odometer and mileage will suffer if you run too tall a tire.

Actually

Better gas mileage
Less odo reading per miles traveled
Less rpms on the highway

But worse acceleration
And your speedo will read slow

You guys are having a "who has a bigger ****" contest. Why dont we stick to the question at hand =) haha. Thats nice information guys really but im really conerned on a look like yours mr ****'s, thats called staggered? If so how much did you do?

On another note my garmin reads me going faster where the speedo is not as fast.

I'm still looking for a good tire to run on my 20's 225's are obviously too skinny.

Any advice as to where to look?? Thanks

worse acceleration would potentially lead to worse gas mileage. larger diameter objects take more work to get going. it doesnt take a genius to know that it takes more gas accelerating than anything else. but in highway, yes it would be most preferrable given that your're already at a constant velocity. overall, it's not ideal to have the taller size unless youre on the highway 100% of the time. go with the right size.

Where can I view meatier tires? I've looked at alot of the normal links given here on the site, but havent come across anything in the 235/35/20zr series

Taller overall gearing typically nets you better mileage. It will take the same amount of work to get to the same speed, but you have a taller gearset to choose from. I won't argue further except to tell you that you're wrong. We are not talking about heavy wheels here.

Taller tire sizes are ok for people who aren't into stoplight racing (better for cruising), and shorter sizes are ok for people who like to give it some more pedal and feel the Gs. Personally I think they both look kind of goofy so I stick to close to OEM diameter.

why am i arguing with an ME... we'll leave it at that. you're right, i was thinking rotational mass the entire time.

stay with close-to-OE sizing.

i thought u were ME? well EE is just as tough. I loved physics when i was ME but everything else just kicked my ***... but that was like 3 years ago so I'm a bit rusty.

How about you 2 get aim names and IM each other. I realize you guys are having fun with the tech questions and all but where can I find some good 235/40/zr20's baby?

Pep boys is doing a sale with any wheel and size buy 3 get 1 free. So I'd like to go in and tell them which are some good shoes.

Thanks guys.

Physics was easy btw <--b+

Quit your damn whining and stop likening our theoretical physics knowledge to a single class you took in high school.

touche. Most everyone I talk to here says EE is the tougher major, I think somewhere like SLO would focus more on MEs so they'd have more material and people who went there might have different opinions. The EEs here are typically the ones who have no life, you see quite a few attractive girl MEs and broly guy MEs.
