I have bought a set of rear z32 tt wheels. They are 16x8.5" with a +35 offset. I want to either mount drag radials or slicks on them, but I am hoping you guys can recomend a size that I can run with out rubbing my suspension and still being able to turn. Is a 255/45/16 the best choice? What do you guys think. Also feel free to recomend an actual tire. My car should be making a little over 300 horsepower. I drag race a time or two every year. I am not a hard core racer but I do try to run PB's every time I go. Opinions?

your choices are pretty limited as far as slicks and DRs go, those that I would deem relevant for your needs include:

Hoosier:
17325 P255/50R-16 DOT Drag Radial
17431 26x9.50-16LT Quick Time Pro DOT
There are also a pair of 28" tires you could use, but those are really big for your HP level though they might allow you to avoid a shift near the end of the 1/4, depending on your setup.

Mickey Thompson:
3158M 27.0/10.0-16M (Actually a motorcycle tire but they might be perfect for your needs, I was considering this tire actually because I like the sizing of it but I ended up getting 15" wheels).
3792 26X10.50-16LT ET Street DOT
3793R P255/50R16 26 X 10.50R16 ET Street Radial (drag radial)

M&H
275/55R16 Drag Radial (This would be a 28" diameter tire again)

I think that's about it as far as your selection goes. You might want to make your determination based upon your powerband, you might be able to prevent a shift to 4th gear if you size your tires right depending on your powerband and rev limiter, etc.

I don't mind having to shift to fourth. My rev limiter is set at 7000. I enjoy drag racing but I am not a hard core racer.

Do you think most of those tires would fit under the fenders? Some of those seem a bit wide. My car is lowered probably at least 2.5"-3"s

the 28" tires might have a problem because of their height, but width wise none of those tires pose a problem. maybe if you crank the wheel all the way one way or the other you might rub, but you don't usually do that while racing.

what about these? They seem to be a new tire with not many reviews. But the price is right. The m/t and the Hoosier tires are hard to get below $200. and I had BFG's and would like to try something different.

Well I could not find many reviews but the price was right and toyo is a reputable account. I have two 255/50/16's coming my way. I will try to remember to post back about them since it does not seem that too many people have run them.
