New shoes
New shoes
Hey all, I have an 03 i35 base package. Anyhow I just put new running shoes on her. She got sumitomo hts v rated 215-55-r17 When i got the car it had 225-50r17. I just learned that the 7 inch stock i35 rim will not fit the 225mm width with out cupping the tire to much. Over long periods of time the tire may crack. 1 is this true? 2. I had to go back to the 215mm which is no biggie to me since it's a negligible loss in width. 3. I really think the tire is a nice choice. Wow, I actually forgot what new shoes will do for the ride. I got her the shoes at tire kingdom.( tire rip-off ) Buy 2 get 2 free deal. Anyhow 544.00 otd. Not all that bad. Now comes the kicker and how they get u in. You have to buy the road hazard on all 4 tires. Now for the best part, when he realized that the tech was struggling to get the 225 on the rim he went to the 215, but the 215 has less rebate so it actually came out to more cash. He did honor his original quote of 544.00. If he did not it would of been like 560ish. Did I get el ripped off? Or not so much. What do u all think of the tire, and the deal

Don't know about price but 225's on 7" wide is not a problem.
Prices should be checked BEFORE you buy so no sense asking about it now. Worry about it next time you need a new set then check out tirerack.com.

So I checked tire rack. 102 a piece. 408 for 4 tires, now add 57.00 shipping. The deal I got with add ons of road hazard and life time balance and rotation with 1 year alignment and 3 years roadside assist. Hell, I'd say not all that bad of a deal.

I don't think you did that bad. You didn't get ripped off, you paid a 'convenience charge'. Most of these really push the services, like road hazard, free alignment, yada-yada-yada...
Think of it this way. You get the tires shipped to your door for $465. Then you spend $40 getting them mounted/balanced, bringing you to $505. You're only 2 tire puncture repairs away from the original price of $544.
All in all, I'd say you did well.
