tire rotation issues from dealer..is this right?

Hey guys,

My tires are decently worn, and I wanted to squeeze out as much mileage as possible. I went for a tire rotation about 4k miles ago and the tire dealership refused to rotate the tires because they said that it is recommended that they put tires w/ higher treads in the back for the rain season. I find it odd, wouldn't you want more grip in the front than the back for a front wheel drive car? The only thing I can see that's a little dangerous is that my rear tires are different brands. But I don't speed nor wreckless in my maxima. You guys think its safe?

I know this at most of the tire shops including dealerships they won't rotate the tire when they are too low. I have ran across this problem few years ago myself.....

They do this hoping that the rear end of the car doesn't lose traction around a corner and slide. If the more worn tires are on the rear, the chances are greater it will slide out on you.

Strange, but makes sense for the shop not to rotate. You can always do it yourself.

+1

less chance of hydro-planing with more tread in the rear tires.
