My First Ever 1/4 Mile- What are other 5th Gen 3.0s Running??

Well long story short Ive never been to track and decided to go with along with my buddy and his bolted 5.5 Gen. Obviously his car is faster but I was pretty happy with my runs as with every run I was getting quicker.

Here are the numbers:

Personal Best for the night was a 15.4 @ 92 MPH with a 2.4 60' I believe.

The car has stock headers, y-pipe, and cat.

Mods are as follows:

Blox filter with velocity stack
HKS muffler
Resonator delete
S-Tech springs

BTW the car is a 5spd manual with the stock shifter with 120xxx miles on the motor. I plan on going back in about 2 weeks after removing the back seat and what not.

Just curious what other 5th Gen 3.0s are running and with what mods.

my friend ran a 14.9 on intake and catback exhaust

tap seems a little low .... and the launch needs a little work unless your tires aren't in that great of shape

you should be able to run mid 14's if launched right given that motor is running healthy

I ended up running out of time but Im sure she will break 14s with some minor weight reduction. As for the trap Im running stock size Yokohama tires with plenty of life, but the tires themselves are garbage for all seasons. They werent hooking as firmly as I would have liked but I didnt lower the tire pressure either.

Next visit Im going to run them around 25psi.

I've seen quite a few 5th gen/3.0/5 speeds run 14.9's bone stock with a 2.2 or 2.3 60', with a trap of 93-94mph. 15.4 seems a bit low considering your mods. You should probably be in the 14.6-14.9 range, atleast. I also doubt removing the back seat, spare, ect will reduce your times by more than a tenth or two. A 2.2-2.3 60', good weather, and a good track should get you around 14.9-15.0 range. Might want to check your knock sensor.

i really dont see how the 5th gen can get a 15 sec stock...15.4/15.5 was the stock time when it came out...

i'm pretty sure w/ more seat time i can get a 14.7 in mine

I wana see how fast I can get on stock headers/cats/ypipe. As of now all my mods are minor but the 5th gen is a heavy car which sucks in the 1/4.

i've only been to the track once in this car...best time was 14.9 worse was 15.1...i know i can get better than 14.9 if i stayed at the track, but i just wanted to see what numbers i had just once and let it go. i might go back since i have a cutout..but ill need to get some 17s to go back w/ instead of running these G wheels

True I felt the same the way, the longer I stayed the quicker I was running. I'm running 5.5 gen SE wheels. Once you see your times decreasing it becomes addicting haha.

Chances are I'm going to swap in a manifold with the power rod removed and see what happens. Since there was a 15.4 with an unmodified manifold I'd like to see what a power rod removal will accomplish, if anything.

Bumpage;

Check out this old thread (it's a short convo about members taking their new dek's to the track):

OP, get some lighter wheels (if you're willing of course, some folks don't care), you WILL notice a difference though.
