Installing a CD player

i have noticed that alot of people have cd players installed in there maximas, did anyone run into trouble installing it. A while ago we went to a stereo place and they said it could not be done because of the alarm system, did any one else have this problem. if so how did u get it installed. Or did u not have any trouble and it installed easy?

Umn no. Who told you this? I installed all my stuff my self with some stuff a friend of mine. When I first got the car my dads boss before she sold it to us. Put in a Pioneer Premier tape deck with Pioneer Premier CD changer in it. I then had the car and installed Pioneer speakers in the back. Then my friend and I installed my Kenwood 300 watt Amp and Pioneer IMPP 350 watt 10" sub in our selves. For my Birthday Last year my girlfriend bought me the Pioneer DEH-P6400 Cd player with the El-glo lit flip down face and I installed that in just a half hour. I got cds floatin all in the car. Cd player up front, Pioneer Premier cd Changer in the back all hooked up working fine. I like my set up. Its nice nothing too big but will thump when I want it to. I need to get new Pioneer speakers for the front doors. I still have the factory ones in those. Those were also replaced before we bought the car too in 99.

I haven't changed out my factory radio yet either...

After doing so, does the voice command still work
notifying that "fuel level is low" and the like?

OOOHH. I dont have the voice command, my car is a Floater. Anyway I did hear from one dude that when he installed an aftermarket stereo in his car the lady did go away. Maybe you can trace the wire by finding what wire is hot when you leave the door open. Attach it to one of the speaker wires and it should work even after installing the aftermarket one. Im not too familiar with the voice command thing though so what I said may not work completely.

Here is the deal, if you want voice warning system to work, what you do is keep the original wiring, and buy one of the wiring harnesses to plug the head unit into the wiring. Mine has an aftermarket head unit, and I still have voice warning. If you plan to change the wiring, you need to track the wire from the driver side speaker to the voice control unit which resides under the the little storage bin under the ash tray (or drive computer for those who have it). Then you track the wire from the control unit to the head unit.

I installed an aftermarket CD player but ran new wires to the drivers door. I added an additional speaker for the voice warning system.
