mine would be doing great if I could afford tires...

2 flats, and one tire practically bald...

all these issues fixed with the front-end rebuild complete...but gotta get tires now...

Mine's doing okay, it has started to take a few more cranks
of the starter to get the engine going than it used for about
a month now.

Haven't worried about it too much as it only happens for the
first start of the day in the wee hours of the AM then it's fine
the rest of the day.

Thought maybe it was gas line freeze, but the car is garaged
at night an stays pretty warm.

sounds like the starter solenoid ...

if so, at least it's one of the few parts that's actually EASY to get at...

Maybe the battery. When it's colder outside, the battery isn't a efficient in keeping a charge.

As for my car, it's doing good, still trying to come up with money for new wheels/tires. Slowly working on my cosmetics, the grill and trim around the cornering lamps are painted dark red metallic. Need to fix the passenger side paint though a little. Bumper cover should be on it's way soon. Need to get more paint. Other than that, it seems everything is fine and dandy.

The starter doesn't turn over any slower, just takes a few
more turns of the starter than it use to...

In other words, it just takes longer (couple of seconds) than
it use to. Instead of about 1-2 revs of the engine, it takes about
5-6.

The problem acts more fuel related, the car has always had a
hot start issue. The car is hard to start then runs rough and
will sometimes even stalls if the car has only been off for about
5-10 minutes.

I replaced the fuel pressure reg like the manual said to do for
hot start issues. That helped some, but never truly "fixed" the
problem.

Oh ya, that staring problem is common. I've had that for years on my Z. Seems to go away if I have a brand new battery or just charged it... or if I turn the car on and let it pressurize the fuel system for a few seconds. It must be fuel related... aftermarket injectors or that intake boot that's really stiff. Maybe a small vaccume leak. Its never left me stranded though! Luckily my Maxima does not have the same problem.

Mine seems to have the hot start issue, where it runs like crap for a minute or two then it clears up. This seems to be worst during the winter months I've noticed. In the mornings it sometimes does take a few more cranks for my car to start up, but probably because it's cold outside.

Mines cool....performance wise. Got a few cosmetic things that need to be taken care off but all that's gonna be an ongoing project (cash flow not good).

On a side note, what kind of tires do you guys run, I'm shopping around?

currently I am running four different tires THey are all the same size but they are all brands I never have heard of....it rides a little bumpy in the next few weeks after I get some rims, I am going to go to a local shop and get whatever tire they have on special that is the right size and get four of those....too much money to spend on my fourth gen to really put top of the line stuff on this one...but it is coming together alright in my opinion....in the next month I will have new rims/tires/foglights/intake/and head unit

Right now, I am just getting the one from ebay...it does not have a mid pipe or anything, its just a filter and a adaptor plate...just takes the place of your airbox. LittlePiggie is a guy on here that makes a CAI for the second gen, that I would like to get but for right now I am just going to go with the $10 'quick fix'

Just a quick question... please forgive an old hot rodder...

Our second gens pretty much have a CAI from the factory,
albeit a crude one, but a CAI just the same...

Most folks on here ditch the air box to put on a nice big air
filter and adapter, only to complain that the air that's being
drawn in is heated air from the engine compartment.

It's at this time that said person changes the intake to draw
fresh air (again) from the outside...

Isn't this pretty much a 360???

Granted that the CAI setups have a straighter air flow which
is a great advantage, but couldn't the stock air box remain
and just get rid of the "silencer" and set up a more "direct"
duct to the TB (keeping provisions for any connections to
the intake duct in this area of course)?

Course it's no Piggie Racing CAI, but it's got to be better
than stock.

Just a thought...

We now return you to your regularly scheduled chaos...

Well it will work, but it may not gain anything because of how everything is setup, you'd still have to do the fancy spaghetti work to make the piping direct.

Mine's out of service at the moment. Got some rear brake work going on. Debating wether to get new laoded rear calipers or rebuild the old ones????
Either way it's more than I want to spend right now and I can't drive the car until Feb. 1st with the plates I have on it and it's been really cold outside (and in the garage and in the shed). Oh, yeah, and I have to fix the exhaust pipe that broke where it goes over the rear axle and weld the bracket to hang it back onto the pipe. Maybe then I can get to the suspension work.
It's hard to get motivated this time of year. The MG is is still taking up most of my garage space, too. I finally got the rotissery done for that and it's up in the air and I can finally get at all the places I need to weld. Maybe I can get that space back by this spring.
