The CHTS has nothing to do with the coolant system. It doesn't even measure the coolant temperature level. It's a temperature sensor that measure the cylinder head temp. You might want to try Courtesy Nissan for the harness and sensor. Even though they are a dealer, I think they still discount the price if your a maxima.org member.

alright. thanks for the feed back
um this one is gonna be a tough one. is the chts supposed to have power when the car is not running. i tested the harnass coming from the computer and it has 5V when the ignition switch is on, but when the ignition switch is off the power to the sensor shuts off. i've heard before the chts is supposed to be all time hot from the computer so it already has an acurate reading when you go to start the car. i'm not sure about this so hopefully one of you guys can set me strait.
also check this out. http://www.tomco-inc.com/Catalog/10e...%20sensors.pdf
i googled the model numbers you guys gave me for the sensor and got this .pdf back. it has the number on page 27 and lists it as a "cts" colent temperature sensor?
also this site http://carburetorexchange.com/ectcatalog.pdf
lists it on page 16 as follows
1984-1988--300zx,maxima--all engines--3.0L(vg30)--22630-01p01(Head Sensor)
also listed as a coolant temperature sensor??
according to these two documents they are the same sensor but in vg30e they just bolted it into the head instead of puting it near the antifreze. now I'm really lost
