88 help! out of ideas
I HAVE AN '88 MAXIMA WITH 175k/AUTO TRANS. RUNS GOOD WHEN FIRST STARTED, BUT AS THE ENGINE WARMS UP, IT STUMBLES BADLY. IN PARK, FROM ANY RPM WHEN YOU ABRUPTELY STOMP THE ACCELERATOR, THE ENGINE STUMBLES, ALOT, UNTIL IT "CATCHES UP", THEN RUNS GOOD. WHILE DRIVING, AS YOU PRESS THE ACCELERATOR, THE CAR WILL STUMBLE AND SHUT OFF IF YOU DON'T BACK OFF THE PEDAL. THE MAX HAS NEW PLUGS, WIRES, AIR FILTER. RECENTLY, I REPLACED THE THROTTLE SWITCH, MAS, FUEL FILTER, TEMP SENSOR, FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR, CHANGED OUT THE ECU. THE TIMING BELTS WERE CHANGED WITHIN THE LAST 25K. THE INJECTOR RECALL WAS COMPLETED ABOUT 45K AGO. IT YOU STOMPIT FROM A DEAD STAND STILL, IT RUNS LIKE A ROCKET.
THE ONLY THINGS I HAVEN'T CHANGED OUT ARE THE O2 SENSOR, FUEL PUMP, OR DISTRIBUTOR. I DON'T SEE HOW THOSE THINGS COULD BE THE PROBLEM, IF IT RUNS GOOD COLD, OR AT FULL THROTTLE.
I NEED ANY HELP OFFERED. THANKS.

it might be the o2 sensor.i had an 89 pick up truck and it would do the same thing.some times it would accelerate fine and then other times it would stumble real bad it didnt matter if it was cold or warmed up.
one of my friends had the same problem with his ford and it would even shut off on him once in a while.
i would change the o2 sensor if i was you.its not that expensive to change it so it couldnt hurt

I would check to make sure the timing is set correctly...but it kinda sounds like your coil may be going out...I know you said you replaced most of the iginition stuff, but I would still open the hood at night and try to make this happen (the stumble) by using your hand to raise the throttle, and see if you see any arching. I know someone that has a smilar problem to you (not on a maxima) and it was the spark plug wires. Good luck. Keep us posted.

AND TURN OFF YOUR CAPS BECAUSE THEY ARE REALLY ANNOYING LIKE MY REPLY TO THIS THREAD.
Also have you attempted to check for codes? That would of helped so you didn't have to replace everything but whatever(s) is bad.
