87 problems..
I recently inherited an 87 GXE with about 140k on it.
Ok, here is the main problem, it totally gutless and eats gas like a humvee.. The AC kills the power even more. I changed the plugs, no help there. I did a carfax report on it and there were no problems other than it failed a smog once (I'm in Socal). I'm pretty sure that the lousy mileage is related the poor power. I'm pretty sure that a v-6 should be quicker of the line.. So, what should I bee looking into? Fuel injectors? would putting in a can if FI cleaner help at all? Also, would a timing belt change show up in a carfax report? I read on another post that there was a recall on the FIs Can a dealer find out if my car was fixed? I have a lot more questiosn.. I'll just stick to these for now..

You can call up the dealer and give him your VIN and he can check and see if the fuel injector recall was performed. I still have to get mine done, but I don't believe it has robbed me of power or fuel econonmy. The interior of the car just smells like gas once in a while.
As for your problem, I'd start by checking the computer, it's located under the passenger seat. You'll need a Haynes or Chilton manual to be able to read the codes. Usually a bad sensor can result in poor mileage and power. If that's all good, then you might just need a tune up.
