Sorry to All about the evap testing, Im usually the first to ream someone for being wrong and I guess its my turn now.
A combo of moving from CA having never had a evap test or visual inspection of one and the leaking gas cap test here in chicago (which I've passed with no evap canister) lead me to ASSume. Ill be quiet now.

it's cool maxpower. Hell, I didn't know about it until I had to go through with it in my max this year. Other years it was just the gas cap test

I looked up the California Application chart for Cats and found that a Magnaflow 36306 is what you need if you don't mind going generic:

The prices aren't that bad actually on Fee-bay:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=....c0.m270.l1313

Of course if you know someone that lives in another state, you could probably have a highflow cat shipped to them, and then have them ship it to you. Since it sounds like you will be doing your own exhaust, you can install it and if a Smog shop says anything, you can just say that the cat was installed prior to the law taking effect (I think it was 1/1/2009). If they ask why the pipes are so shiny just tell em you only drive her on special occasions?

Can't wait to see and hear the finished product! Awesome work and delivery, Big-E!!! I've dreamed of having a RWD/AWD 3rd gen Maxima and now I see what it would take. How easy/possible do you think it would be to do an AWD version of this in a 3rd gen? Just gotta ask, 'cause I'd love to do a Skyline AWD TT conversion on a 4 door Maxima! B)

Not easy. First you have to figure what trans your gonna find that is awd and hooks up to your VG. Second that is a whole lot of fab work hes doing (one of a kind). Hence why no one else has attempted or willing to attempt. Easier to just source a 1st gen. Once you topple those hurdles you then gotta make it run right. Not saying it can't be done just gotta have the pockets, know how, tools and motivation to accomplish what your asking.

Yes, I am aware it would need a ton of fabrication. If I was going the awd drive route I would probably see if I could use a RB, VQ, or SR engine/awd drivetrain setup. I wouldn't stick with the VG.

I would snag an RB30 from Aussie land (something different and no one would expect it). Hell import a R30 skyline from the early 80s from thru Canada and remove the motor from shell so you can claim it as parts.

not that easy, theyre not even common here. ive seen one running in person before and im pretty sure this is the same one

http://edmonton.kijiji.ca/c-cars-veh...AdIdZ327966939

you can bore a RB26 to 3.0L though, ive seen it done

easiest to just get a 1st gen as said, between having to move the gas tank, make a trans tunnel, room for the diff and driveshaft, and moving the firewall back to fit a straight 6 youre best off getting a 1st gen and throwing in a RB20

Why go through the trouble when it's now LEGAL to import a car from the early 80's?

Smart move reinforcing the gap between support rails. Might want to look into linking each pair of mounting points with additional tubing, preferably welded to the tube structure and alongside the rails themselves. I know it needs to be removable, but it doesn't seem like those 4 bolts would hold up well under stress. Course there's only so much I can tell from a pic, the tunnel itself helps and of course the transmission..

What size tubing is that exhaust.....3"? Cause it looks like a 2.5"er ...

after the long delay of finding out why this mitch wont start, ok got it to turn over was the automatic neutral interlock switch-to-clutch harness i made was missing LOL! but ima run it like this (with no gas) for a while to see which line the oil comes out of first for the oil relocation/cooler setup, hook it up then ima start it. sometime this week, soooo excited lol!
