replacing speakers...

Hey guys, I did a search on this and did not find the info I needed.

Basically, I want to change the stock bose speakers in my '90 Max... for the front, from the info I got I understand that I need to make custom brakets, so I am considering making the braket out of MDF wood. The problem is, how big of a speaker can I get?

Also, for the amps in the back...what procedure do I have to go through in order to connect the after market speaker to the reciever?

Thanx for your time and effort, whoever is willing to help me out.

In the front you have to make the brackets that you are speaking of from some material, and 6", 6.5", 6x9", 4x6" all will fit up front, the 6x9" is a little tricky though, and for the back bypassing the amps is what you have to do. you have to run new speaker wires, and also get a new head unit, or if you use the Bose head unit you have to get a bypass module which will cost you around $50. I have gone through all thr processes cept bothering with the front swap yet because I am POOOOR so I cannot afford the Boston Pro 3 way setup I want for the front.

yes that is what I meant and then you have to run a set of RCAs from the back of the reciever providd your receiver has RCA outs!

myself and many others have just used the stock wiring and then just bypassed the BOSE amps just before the speaker

I have a pioneer DEH-P7400MP with some pioneer speakers all around and have had NO problems using the stock wiring after I bypassed the amps

instructions are on my how-to page

no need for new front speakers

Another possible option which i have never heard done besides mine, is to simply rewire the front speakers. I rewired the speakers to bypass the amp (in the assembly) and used the factory wire to the deck. I did not use the rear 6X9s because they were warped, most possibly from the heat. If you want to know more, Email me Japocalipse@aol.com For some pics of my system check out my homepage.

front speakers

I still run my standard bose front speakers off a panasonic head deck. it's a temporary solution, but works well, you just use the remote wire on the head unit to power up the bose amps, and connect the speaker wires straight to the head unit. This does double amp the speakers, but i usually just fade the head deck to the back a bit to even up the sound (i've got after market speakers in the back - not running on bose amps) the bose amps usually crap out, but i did a search and found a thread that shows you what capacitors to replace on the circuit board, and now they're like new. good sound too.

hope this helps..
