belt noises?

For a while now my belts behind the right front tire have been making a high pitched screeching sound that I can hear even with the windows shut. I think it might alos be the bearings but I don't know. Has anyone had this problem?

Are you talking about a belt like an A/C belt? If so you can try buying some belt dressing to spray on there.

the only time my belts have squealed was when my water pump siezed. that ****ed me off cause we had it repalced right when we bought it and i didn't even put 10,000 miles on it. check to see if the belts are in good condition.

belts are probably cracking or glazed. check/replace em before they break.

if they're fine then tighten (although you shouldn't need to do that unless you just messed with them). I don't like to use the quieting spray becasue it can casue the belts to slip causing rough idle or even a stall.

Easy test..pop the hood, spray some belt dressing, silicone spray, wd40, armorall..any lube spray. Shut hood and drive. Did it help? If yes, tighten or replace. If not, might be bearings in waterpump, alternator, AC comp, etc.

Make sure you don't have a leak on your belts. People forgot to mention that, if you have oil or power steering fluid leaking on your belts it can cause high pitched noise and slipping.
