OK, Christmas is coming up and the ideas of what I want are swirling in my head. I thought a repair manual would be a good place to start so I actually understand the car and its parts. I've heard the Haynes is better than the Chilton manual so I looked at them at amazon. I noticed that the Haynes covers the years 1993-1998 and the Chilton covers 1993-1999. This seems a little odd to me since it covers two generations. Has anyone had any experience with either of these models? Thanks.

i have a haynes manual for mine...it kinda sucks..has good bit of mis-information in it. The basic stuff is right though.
My haynes was only 12 bucks so it wasnt a bad deal

93?

why would it start at 93? shouldn't it at LEAST cover 89-94? Since, thats all the same gen, with Minor differences. (except for engines but thats still not 93 that would be 92-94 SE)

Manual for 1993 SE

I have a 1993 SE, and the Haynes manual doesn't cover my engine, does the Chiltons for those years?

yea i saw one the other day, not sure which brand, but it was from like 85-92. that makes no since, unless theyre talking about vg eingine or something, but still most of the pictures were from the old maxima.

i bought the chiltons 93-99 manual earlier this year. (picture of 4th gen on cover) it covers the VG,VE and VQ motors, id #52452 in the top right corner of the cover. the newer haynes and chiltons were published withint the last year or so. the others with the exception of the haynes 85-92 manual were published in 91 or 92. also, i dont think the earlier ones coverd the VE motor.

If you have the original owners manual that came with the car, in the back of it there should be an order form for a Nissan manual. There is a number you can call also but I have not tried. I actually gave the info to my dad for and xmas gift. If anyone needs it I'll have to look it up later.
