91 SE behavior

I just got this car (91 SE) and I am trying to get use to the car.
When I accelerate to a certain speed (example: 15mph) and release the accelerator the car seems to maintain that speed at level ground. Only when I hit bumps, go up hills or tap the brake will the speed of the car be reduce to a lower speed but becomes constant at the lower speed when level ground is reached again. I do not have the cruise control on and this happens at low speeds (< 30mph) also.
I can not remember if the RPM drops after the accelerator is released.

Am I just nuts and what I am noticing is just the car's ability to coast further than the other cars I am use to?
Or do I have a problem?

When at "park" the engine will rev up when the accelerator is pressed and immediately drop when I release it.

ground level is reached again? So let me get this straight, your car goes airborn, when you hit the accelerator?

Re: i bet your throttle is sticking

If the throttle is sticking the test I did when at park will leave the RPM high when I release the accelerator?

I'm going to try to test the TPS and look at the ECU code.

Any other sugguestions?

its just the auto

Well I've never driven an auto until I had to drive my mom's Taurus once last year, and I noticed the same thing. Since there's no direct compression slowing the engine (and car) down like when you take your foot off the gas in a stick-shift, it just coasts forever. It's so annoying! So if you're used to manuals, and it's an autp, thats probably why. It's not a problem just another annoyance of an auto.
