3 wires to the alternator, right...?

Thanks to the great forums here, I was able to find a great little walkthrough of how to install replace my alternator, which supplemented my so-so Haynes manual nicely. However, both the online instructions and the Haynes say there are 3 wires to the alternator - the big plug (got it) and 2 little wires screwed onto posts. There is only 1 wire screwed onto a post on my old alternator, and I think I can see where the other one should have gone, but it's nowhere to be found. No loose wires around down there that I could attach, everything I can see seems to be connected with just those 2 on...

As I suspected, still having the same problem with the new alternator as the last one (sporadic battery and brake lights flashing under acelleration and heacy accesory use). I have the VE engine (93 SE as the name says). How should I go about locating where the 3rd wire went and fixing my problem? Can someone take pictures of where those 2 smaller ones are coming from? Thanks!
