Value?? Is it worth fixing?

I recently purchased a black 5-speed 91 Maxima SE w/cloth, and like the car a lot. I soon noticed after getting on the road what, after doing a search, seems to be the infamous trans bearing noise. It sounds as if it is the output shaft. It is not too bad but noticeable when the radio is off. So here it is... The car is very clean w/94500 miles. I paid $3000 for it (I should have visited this site first to know what to look for). I have a guy who will probably re-build the trans and put in a new clutch for around $1200 or so, which from what I’ve read here sounds very reasonable. Am I just digging myself into a hole with this thing? I would plan on keeping it as a second car, I don’t notice anything else, and the engine feels strong. Did I already pay too much with no hope of any recovery if I do the clutch/trans? I know I wouldn’t get everything I put in back, but something would be nice. Thanks

Nah man never My trans when out like a day after I had the car i couldnt go in reverse. I paid 1,500 for the trans to get fix now the car runs like a bear. If you are asking is it worth keeping the car I think it is. Maxima's last forever plus you can get them looking nice. Check out Chris91se and a couple of others on here they did a good job on there max

If you plan on keeping the car, or would like to keep the car, then yes it is worth it. The quote you got to rebuild the tranny and put in a new clutch doesn't sound too bad either.

1ST, BE SURE IT IS THE INIPUT BEARING (OR ANY BEARING FOR THAT MATTER) Oops, srry about the caps!., When my input bearing was bad, it only made oise with my foot off the clutch..when I pushed the clutch in, it stopped (obviously, because the input shaft stops turning!) I tmight be the release bearing or something. Just be sure before yo tear the trans apart.
