I'll help you out a little. It stands for "Variable Turbo Controller". They are found in the VE30DETT engines, which only came in 92-94 Maxima GT-R's. They adjust the boost of the twin turbos. If you hear them ticking, get them fixed immediately!!!

BUT..... if they are making a "clacking" sound... then they are fine. Ticking = bad, clacking = good. Meowing = very bad.

ok now i have found i thread that says its means "valve timing control" is that what VTC means?
And not to accuse anyone of guessing but a variable VTC for turbo sounds like a redundant phrase. Turbos are varible in of themselves so a variabile tubro controller cant be right. Turbo contollers control boost and wastegates but technically not the turbo itself.

Hey,

I feel kinda bad for misleading you. Thing is, every day tons of newbies come in and ask questions that can be easily answered by reading the FAQs in here or from the main page, or from doing a search. It looks like you went and did that. No hard feelings.

no problem. i thought you guys might be messing with me though. thanks for the help i did recieve though. ANd i know to use the search, but it can get confusing and time consuming having to go through 15 to 20 pages of threads to find one little answer. Couldnt you guys put the thread where you have the slang used as one of the attention threads on the main page? that would help us newbies some.

Now THAT, my fine new friend, is the $64,000 question... (and one that I've asked myself from time to time)
