burned ground in the ECU :(

well i finally found out the reason why my car wouldnt start. First i thought it was the pump so i changed it but it wouldnt crank. so i took it to a mechanic and he said i have no ground coming out of the ECU to the fuel system. Now myproblem is what casued it? Was it time for it? Never heard it happening. Once i fuked my ground to my radio cause it ws late at night and i was working on it and the groud and positve toched causing my ground to the radio burning. I rerouted the grund to the radio from the car and the noraml ground has been coverd with tape. Could this caused it? What shoudl i look for? PLEASE HELP. Oh yeah and i did serach and no one had this problem.

Ive never heard the problem discussed here but I know a couple of auto sources have the ecu as a problem in older third gens, I would email craig b he's good with electrical stuff and hes got a diagram of the ecu so he may be able to help you diagnose the problem, did your mechanic give you any suggestions?

I cant see your mechanic (or any) being smart enough to find that out . So is he telling you that you should replace the ecu? Typically the ecu uses transistors to negatively switch on/off components, so it is possible that the transistor has failed.

A common problem is the RELAY for the fuel pump failing. So thats something that costs $15, and I believe its located in the truck. Try this before replacing the ECU.

does it smell like gas when you try to crank? Just curious because I just had a problem tonight with my car not starting. I checked the tps and it was bad. Replaced it and the plugs (they were drowned with gas) and it cranked right up.

I am not doubting your mechanic but just sharing my experiance from tonight.

Re: Re: burned ground in the ECU :(

well i checked the relay myslef and i did work. i also tested the wires wiht a tester and it showed no ground. therefore i rerouted the wire and gave it a ground. the fuel pump did come on but it would not crank. so i think the ECU still did not send the grund to the injectors and **** like that, therefore it still did not crank. So it has to be the ECU but i just want to know how to fix it from frying it again. Could it be the radio with the ground that i messed up?
