This request for help goes out to anyone who might know the answer or who has had similar problems! I have 92 GXE with about 90000 miles on it. The car has given me many problems, but this is the first that no mechanic knows the answer to. Whenever it rains, the car will turn over but not start. If I keep trying, I can usually get it to start. If I start to drive w/o letting it run for about 20min it will stall the moment I touch the gas. One mechanic said it might be the mass airflow sensor but... I had it replaced and it didn't cure or even help the problem. After I try to start the car in the rain, I smell lots of gasoline. The problem doesn't even happen in the snow!! This has been going on for months now AND I NEED HELP!! Please -- someone, anyone -- please help me out here! it is a common problem on these cars. replace the dist. cap and rotor and that should help. condensation gets in there and doesnt let it start.
