Baby Seat Anchor spots...

My 2 year old likes to help me do the poor-man mods. Recently we got him a new car seat...matches my interior.

The seat came with one of those 5-point anchor systems. So..2 points are from the seatbelt. The other 3 are these: 1 on top. 2 down below...under the seat, or in the crack I guess.

The instructions say to clip the top one to the brace near the speakers (in the middle there.) So, I see in my manual that I can bold something there if I cut out that little circle ? Anyone tried this? Where do you get the bold, or the brace? Maybe the dealer?

The bottom ones say to clip them to the "bars" under the seat. I can't seem to find anything very sturdy under there. Anyone had any success witht his?

Just trying to get my kid-racing-seat-mod safe.

Matt

I think the manual may be reffering to a newer model car. They seem to have special anchors for baby seats?

Anchors..

Yeah, you're probably right about the bottom ones.

Any one had any luck attaching a top anchor in a 3rd gen? I'm looking for a part number for the bolt and anchor.

There really isn't anything under the front of the cushion to clip to, but you might be able to remove the seat, and put some regular or eye bolts in. My son is only 4 months, so his seat just goes in with the belt, but I'll be doing the harness thing soon enough.

Re: Baby Seat Anchor spots...

It figures the Daddy's will answer this one. When we purchased our child seat it came with the needed bolts and brackets to anchor the top of the seat to the rear deck, but (as someone stated with newer vehicles) when we drive in grandma's SUV the bracket is built into the cargo area. My kids ride with mommy more often so all the bracket and bolts say in her car, but occasionally when the oldest (2.5yrs) has to ride in Daddy's car I can secure her seat using the shoulder seat belts. FYI if you didn't know, when you extend the rear shoulder seat belts all the way out and let it slowly retract, it will engage a one-way mechanism that will only allow the belt to continue tighten and not loosen if you keep retracting it.

Same problem

I had the same trouble with the car seat for my Sisters sprogs. there should be 2 achor point on the parcel shelf in between the speakers. A small lugs or whatever covers the anchor points, they should have given u a small z bracket or something similar. If they didn't give u one go and ask for it. They're really cheap any way.

I just guessed at what they are up there for so thats what I used they look pretty strong from inside the boot.

Hope this helps.
