Notorious BOSE system..

I have that notorious BOSE system that is a pain and a half to re-wire just to install some aftermarket beat..

Anyways, the self-amplified speakers are making a high-pitched whine and sound like total crap now... Time to throw in my Audiobahns and Memphis highs, I think.

I am wondering what exactly you guys had to do to re-wire it from the stock setup so that you could use a regular aftermarket setup with a little more slump and a clear tune.

Also...If you didn't do it yourselves, and took it to a place to be done professionally, how much did it cost you and what was all done?

Thanks

well if you want to keep the bose speakers with the aftermarket head then you have to get a adapter which runs from 40-60 bucks , but if you want to hook up the new h/u with new speakers then you just run the wires and hook them up to the new h/u

In my '92 I pulled new wire and set it up for mutilpe feeds to each speaker location. I put in Blaupunkt speakers and HU, but the amps
don't come till summer.

My winter '89, I just replaced the speakers and HU, but used teh stock wiring. I just taped off the power wires.

or you could do that too ; i tried that but it didn't work but oh well thats me and i just replaced the damn things anyways don't feel like spending the money on getting the bose speaker fixed just to have it go out again ; much rather spend like 50 bucks to get a pair off ebay and replace them

THE BOSE REWIRE

IT IS SOOOO EASY TO REWIRE THE SPEAKERS. I still dont know why everybody says its such a big deal. all you need is a wire stripper and a some basic wiring knowledge. e-mail me i'll tell you how to do it...

i rewired my car the first weak i had it beacuse i could not stand the bland boring sound of the bose i mean its 4 mid/woofers no tweeters but it really wasnt hard at all it took about 2 hours the backs were really easy of course i ran the wire to the trunk to hook up to an amp anyway, the fronts are not bad either just run the wire through the door boots and your done i used a claw tool you can buy at sears or wearever it makes it really easy and it sounds great now
