temperature gauge problem.

what can can cause the temperature gauge to shoot up to high really fast then hover there for about 2 seconds then fall back down to the normal range? this is the 3rd time this happened. can air bubbles in the cooling system cause this or maybe my thermostat is about to crap out on me? thanks for any info.

it could be air in the system or the stat is just opening like u said. It could also be your temp. sensor

Temp gauge

Mine hasn't worked in 2 years, just kind of jumps around after my car gets up to temp. Car doesn't run very well now, but ran good for at least a year and a half after it went blatto. Just learning to ignore it.

why risk the chance of overheating your engine without you knowing?

well

I went through this a little while ago it 1s 1 of 3 things ,but if you can hit the dash and it gos back you know its the gauge (if it is go get one in the junk yard ) if not its one of the sensors near the water neck under your hood one is the sending unit to the gauge the other is the unit for the ECU replace them all if you want to make it EZ on yourself
