ok, finally ready for the install tommarrow, but today i gave it a quick checkover of what im going to do. I cant find the place to stick the power wire into the cabin. i undid the wheel well cover found the clump of wires that goes into the dash, yet when i look underneath the dash, i cant see where the wires come in from the engine. is there room in this clump to fit the power cable through? Or another hole somewhere where i can stick the cable through?I would not like to drill through my car if not nessicary, and i know matt didnt do it in his car. It would be great if you guys could tell me how you fished your power wire through your car, especailly if you didnt drill your own hole in the fire wall, it would really help me out!! thanks guys.

also another q while im at it, where did you guys splice the antenna lead at for the remote cable? right behind the deck, or in the trunk where the antenna moter is located?

An alternative...

thebull's way is fine. As an alternative - I would likely still go through the firewall. It's direct, you can make it the size you need and there is no stress of door movement on the wire bundle.

The easiest way the I have found is to look inside the engine compartment by the steering column. Use the steering column as a reference point. Find a spot by the steering column that you won't drill into anything - that is, a good spot for the hole.

Then go under the driver dash and using the steering column as the reference, drill a hole in that spot.

Then I put a good coating of silicone sealer on the metal edges (to avoid leaks and rust) and then quickly put in a rubber grommet in the hole. This ensures a good seal and a nice, protected hole for the wire to go through. Make sure to pre-size the grommet, hole, etc. to the size of the wire (or wires).

Lastly, I finish running/connecting the wires. Then I tie wrap them out of the way and put a good, thick coating of silicone seal where the wire(s) enter - on both the engine compartment size and inside the vechicle.

This all may seem like overkill, but I have never had a rust or leak problem.

wooo hooo! got it through the firewall, i did it like matt and actually ended up putting it through the hood release hole. worked great, but now.... more questions, where EXACTLY do i splic the antenna wire? it has a main wire then and adapter peice the splis into 2 wires one isnt used (looks like a socket), then the other is a plug like an rca sort of that plugged into the connector that goes into the radio. should i splice right into the wire that comes out of the radio, before it hits any of these adaptors? and one last q, what did you guys use for a ground?
i think im going to post this under a new topic too, just because it is off the topic of this one..
