Bose Stereo (sorry, search doesn't work)

The stock Bose stereo on my '89 GXE has a dirty volume control contact, causing horrible noise when adjusting the volume. Worse yet, as we all know this system doesn't play CDs. Any advice on fixing the problem or replacing the head unit?
