Personally, I don't think they are worth the money. I think that STP is good, I use them and they are like $3. I know one time I took a Fram apart and it was stuffed with what looked to be newspaper clippings... and that was what they considered a filtration system... but I do know for a fact that K&N doesn't noticably work any better than any other filter. Don't pay for a name.

If you want a higher performance oil filter, then use either Mobile one (10-12 micron filtration), and there is also AC/Delco Ultraguard gold (8-10 micron filtration, www.carparts.com is the only place I know of that still stocks them, this is the filter I use!).

Most other filters trap particles ranging from 25-40 microns.

Its proven to extend the life of the engine when using a high quality filter. If you wanna go bonkers then install a bypass filtration system, which will use two filters one of then traps particles down to 1 micron!!

Its up to you, and how long you want your engine to last. Though the most important thing is to CHANGE YOU OIL AND FILTER on a regular basis. When a filter begins to plug up, the oil will get bypassed and will circulate the dirty oil causing a lot of engine wear.
