Sounds like you might have a bad alternator and or battery that isn't able to provide the power to your subs and the rest of the cars electrical system at the same time. I'm not an expert on this and some of the other guys would know more then I.
I would suspect that you probably have some serious amps. When the amps draw juice for the low bass it tries to draw from the alternator but since your alternator might be bad the voltage lowers excesively. The voltage drop on the alternator combined with the load on the rest of the electrical system might be causing an big voltage drop, say to 11 or 10 volts.
You might be able to test this theory by running your system and having your headlights turned on at the same time. If the headlights dim excesivly with the bass then check your alternator and your battery. Just a guess though.
One last thought, it could be a ground somewhere that is being shaken loose by the vibrations of the bass...

I have a ton of bass in my car with a stock alternator. Did this just start happening or has it been happening the whole time? What gauge wire are you running to the amps? Do you have any CAPS for the amps? How much amperage do they draw? Are you running them at 4 or 2 ohms? I do car stereo installs in my free time, so i am pretty knowledgeable on this. I will post pics of my trunk soon.

I only have one amp (Rockford Fosgate Punch 75), running 4 gauge wire. I can't remember what ohms at running at (its been a long time since I studied up on systems) but I do have it bridged to to Kicker CopVR's. I usually drive with my headlights on at all times, but this is the first time this has occured.

It is definately your alternator, unless the power wire has gotten partailly grounded and it drawing more power. I have a punch 400 and a punch 200 and my lights barely dim when the bass is pounding. So I would have somebody check out the output from your alternator.

It is almost definitely your alternator going out.
I had a monster system in a car years ago (back when I had an Alpine pull-out tape deck -- that's old school) and I was running nearly 1,000 watts on a factory alternator. Then, exactly what happened to you, happened to me. Except one time the bass hit and it shut the engine off at a light because of my bad alternator. Once I replaced it (with another stock one) the tach stayed steady until I sold the piece of crap car.
