Silly strut / spring mistake, does it matter?
Okay, so I started my first strut replacement today, needed it bad after 130k miles on original struts... had a long fight with a seized bolt which I eventually won.
Anyway, after putting my stock spring on the new strut assembly (KYB GR2), I realized I had put the Front Left (FL) spring on the Front Right (FR) strut assembly. Does it matter? It seemed to fit okay. Are the springs side-specific? The springs are the stock OEM springs.
If it doesn't matter, I'd rather leave the spring on the FR strut assembly and move on.
Also, what does that thin papery/rubbery triangle do that goes under the 3 strut tower bolts? It's pink and just seems to go under each bolt.. but it's so thin I can't imagine it's doing anything useful. Mine was pretty crappy and a bit torn.. should I just throw it out?
Thanks,
