I just finished putting a cone air filter on my 93SE and I'm not sure if its supposed to make this noise. As soon as I hit the throttle, its making this weird sound for a second, almost like the noise an air cannon makes when shot but not as loud. Any ideas? I used RTV around all the seals so it can't be a leak. Sounds great wide open at 3500 though!

you shouldnt have used rtv...really not necessary but it probably sounds like it should...after all the main point of anything other than a CAI is to make noise because there really isnt a gain in hp (very little if any)

I used the RTV because I used the metal ring from in the factory airbox which I see you did also. It wasn't exactly flat after I cut it out of the plastic box so I wanted to be sure it sealed. The engine noise does sound like its supposed to its just right when I hit the throttle.

mine makes a whistle noise when certain throttle pressure is applied. may be from the plug i used to cover up where the resonator was.

I sure wouldn't screw around with risking an air tight seal on my air intake! Not the place to cut corners. You can get an adapter practically anywhere for $5-10. If the sealant isn't sensor safe could screw stuff up too.
