Help an old friend out guys
Sorry guys i tried to use the search function but its not working so i need someone to answer my question.I want to get a pair of koni struts because my sucky kyb/sprint set up keeps blowing the struts out in less then two months time possible cause n.y streets. My question is does any cutting need to be done to install the konis because thats what my mechanic told me,or is he talking ****?

Yes the front struts have to have the top cut off and then the Koni strut is installed in the OEM strut housing. I just recently installed Konis on my car and found the process to be relatively easy. Here are some write-ups that give a fairly detailed description of what to do (the 1st link is for a maxima, the other 2 are for other cars but they are nearly the same and have some good pics & info and give you the general idea):

I think I've read before that you have to use the factory strut housing not an after market strut (like KYB or Tokico, ETC). I think the diameter of an after market strut might be a little bigger so the Koni strut won't fit tightly into the housing (Don't quote me on that but I'm pretty sure I read that).
When I did the install on my car I bought a set of used front OEM struts from a ORG member and did the conversion in advance so when I went to install the Konis all I had to do was swap them out. I have my old OEM struts still if you want to buy them, if you don't have your OEMs any more since it sounds like you have KYBs and you can do the conversion in advance and save some time.

Thanks for the help guys & tools your writeup help me gain an understandind on what has to be done. Having an extra strut would make things easier but right now my finances are going to replacing my exhaust studs,y-pipe,and rear calipers all for inspection perpose,so maybe after all of this is done and if you still have them i would be glad to take them off your hand. How much r u asking for them?

You most likely still have OEM struts in the rear. I think any replacement sold for the rear is just an internal cartridge that goes in the rear strut housing. There is a large nut on top of the rear strut hosing that is taken off and the OEM cartridge is pulled out. Then a new cartridge/cylinder is put in whether it be, KYB, Tokico, or Koni. So you should still have your OEM rear strut housings.
I would sell my used front struts real cheap. When your ready if you still want to buy them PM me and we will work something out.
