the boosted max gets stuck in 2nd again!

after tearing into my tranny for the the 3th time to disengage 2nd gear, I must once again open it up and deal with the evil spring that has caused me so much fustration and pain. ( for those of you that dont know or remember, I had rebuit my tranny and forgot to put in one of the springs for the shift rod, so every know and then i would put my car in rev, and the tranny would get stuck in 2nd. I lost the spring and ordered one from the dealership, when i recevied the spring, it was 2.5 inche longer than the original, I had to cut it to fit, but i ended up cutting it to short, so after putting everything together and putting it into rev. it got stuck again. I tore the tranny apart again put in a longer spring and everything work great for about 3 weeks)
today I was driving down the street and realized i forgot something at the house, went to do a quick u-turn couldnt make the turn, slammed it in rev, and got stuck in 2nd. had already swapped over to a t3/t4 and I hit boost at 2200rpm so it was and interesting drive home hit full boost and being stuck in 2nd.
Sorry just need to vent, i was looking foward to making the northshore maxima meet on sunday, but now i have to fix the car on sunday instead .

that sucks...

are you sure it's the spring causing it? are all other clearances correct? shift forks in good shape?

pretty sure its the spring the last time I messed with tranny I completly tore the tranny apart and put it together using the fsm, measured the clearances and everything check out fine. The shift forks look good, I might replace the shift rod.(when I open up the tranny I could see that the ball that the spring pushes on had mad a mark that went over the notch. im pretty sure it the spring, im going to go to a tranny fix shop, junkyard, the 3rd gen nissan factory or pull the spring from your car and if that dont work ill find another tranny.

Then don't waste your time trying to boost the max or even bother getting parts for it. by the time you're done fixing the VTCs and knock sensor, you'll either know what you need, or you'll be ready to sell the car.

just a thought....you might be able to release 2nd without taking the tranny out. If you remove the bolt, spring and ball bearing (and oil) you could probably get a small screwdriver up there to pop it out of gear. Get the wheels off the ground so there is no load on the gear. It shouldn't take much force.
