brake light

got a problem with my tail light. My tail light one of the light socket melted one of the leads so I replaced it with universal socket with no problem but the tail light stays lit until i take out the fuse. What is causing this? I dont want to get any tickets for brake lights not working. HELP

sounds like you fried something or crossed some wires while doing the repair.
not really much we can do to help without being able to work on the car ourselves.

Even with the car turned off? = >take out the fuse<
What tail light stays on? Brake light?, running light? backup light?

brake light

The running lights would stay on all the time untill I would remove tailight fuse. but now lights go off when I turn lights off but I still don't have brake lights. One more observation I have an automatic and I use to hear click noise whenever I would press brake pedal to move shifter from park to rev or to drive. I don't hear click noise. does stop switch have anything to do with that?? I have no blown fuses and I replaced all brake lights ie 1157.

Check your stoplight switch it may be sticking
But I think it is probably the wiring you did

umm im pretty sure your clicking noise is your shift lock mechanism...nothing to do with your lights im pretty sure...if you dont press the brake down...you cant shift...when you press the brake down it clicks, then you can shift...called shift lock

stop switch just makes contact when the brake pedal is pressed to send power to another unit

maxima has 2 switches - one gives power to brake lights, other goes to cruise control cancel

The switch on the right (looking at it) is the brake switch.
or at least it appears to be. Works for my remote start to kill it like it's supposed to
