Emergency!

OK I just got in KYB's, took em to the shop, they call me in the middle of the install and tell me they are the wrong struts for the rears! They havent started the fronts so they dont know if they are the right ones or not.
Here's the numbers for the stuts:

365079 (x2)
235051
235052

Are those the right numbers?? I am 99% sure I DONT have the sonar suspension....btw how can i tell for sure?

They want me to buy some monroes from them to put in and I REALLY dont want to....I want my KYB's in there. Is there anything i can lok for if I go down there to check out the struts to see if they are right? Im freakin out man. I have to have these in by thursday as Im going to Pennsylvania for the weekend (700+ miles) and dont have time to wait for autozone to order new KYBs.

Any info FAST would be greatly appreciated!

OH, they just said that the nut on the rears wont get close to going on...like its too long. He said one of the struts is like a cartige.....do i have sonar and didnt know it?

1) No SEs had the sonar
2) You have called the place you bought them from and reconfirmed the p/ns right?
3) Front = struts Rears=cartridge replacement. Any shop not 100% boneheaded should be very familar with this type of work. As 95% of all cars have similar set ups on one form or another.

those are the parts listed on internetautomart's website... I would ASSUME those are correct.

did they come with new gland packing nuts in the back (the nuts that hold the inserts into the rear strut) I believe they're supposed to- they did with each set of my Konis and Tokicos, but I dunno on the KYB.

Also, have them pour all of the fluid out and check in the bottom for anything that's fallen down in there.

Thats strange. I just looked on taylorautomotive because that who I think I got mine from last year (I cant remember) and they have totally different part numbers. Maybe its their numbers and not KYBs.

This nut wont screw in because...

the cylinder is "too long". They cant get it to thread in.
they want to maybe grind off alittle of the bottom of the strut so the threads can catch. ,,,Good idea?

can you give me better pictures of the end of the KYB?
looks like that thing can/will come off?
if they can chop that thing off and have enough room to get the nut threaded in on top, it's certainly not going to hurt anything- just make sure that it doesnt' create too much room and let the strut flop around in there.

also, is that the OE jam nut, or the one supplied by KYB? looks like the OE one- which is too long due to the part that's not threaded on the end..

Ok I think you just stated the problem right there. I bought the struts from lophix andI think he just sent the stock nuts that he had. (thanks for your nuts, sola:P) So I don't have the KYB nuts. I think that might be the prob bob.

I dont have another shot of the strut bottom....I ran there and back in 20 mins and only snapped a few. It is welded on, but I think they are just grinding it down a lil. Thanks for your replies guys. I'll let you know if it comes out ok.

I MIGHT have some of those things laying around, if you can't get them...
try calling KYB and see what happens...

It was a joke, sola you sent the oem nuts. Thanks for the struts man. I'm sure many people on here agree that you're a good guy to do business with.

Thanks for your timely help people. It seems the mechanics ran into that snag and knew they had some monroes with my name on it. Thanks to your imput I convinced them they were the right ones and to try again. WOuldn't ya know it, they did work.

I'm not sure if they had to grind the bottom of the rear struts to get em in because when I went to pick it up the guys who worked on it were gone.

Anywho I took it on some twisties and could tell a very nice improvement in handling.....over 4 blown struts Oh and they found a gold chain under my rear seat that I didnt know was there....from a previous owner. So anyone want to buya gold chain? How about a trade Matt B....rstb for a NICE gold chain Bling bling my friend..haha
