Looking for Intake & Exhaust 92'

Im trying to look for a descent priced COLD-AIR INTAKE(below $200) for my 92' Nissan Maxima( I don't know if its SE or GXE, can someone tell me the difference). Something that will give me more of a loud sound. I don't really care about extra power, I care about the sound(rumbling sound on the WRX). Im also looking for a cheap exhaust(BOLT-ON MUFFLER) that will increase the rumbling sound. I would be cool if someone could refer me to some website or some respectful company. I don't want the FOAM INTAKES.

if its a gxe, ur not gonna get a whole lotta performance from that engine,

but on the otherhand, i just put a magnaflow muffler and a high flow cat, it sounds better. throatier than stock. place racing has cai's for around 250, piggie racing has em for cheeper, dont remember anywhere else. but theyre out there

are you just looking for sound or more power

btw, a vg isnt gonna sound like an sti at all. 4-6

I sell the magnaflow mufflers. along with an a$$load of other things.

No "performance" muffler is a bolt on to our exhausts.
If you want a decent sound you can always eliminate the muffler entirely......

You won't get the sound you want with any intake. Just run a dryer hose from the intake manifold and zip tie it under the front bumper.

For exhaust, either remove the system in front of the cat, or remove the muffler and weld a piece of straight pipe in there. Make sure you get a tip. Nothing less than 3.5" will sound good. APC makes several quality parts that will do the job.

naw! You want fast and loud huh? Get a Folger's crystal can, and come duct tape....tape the ***** right on. Then take your air box, flip the lid around and duct tape a fram filter to it. It will be freakin sick! Your car would be of da hook!
Your car will probably make 350whp!

well this thread is quickly going down the crapper...

but yeah, if you just want more noise, get any straight through muffler. If you want MORE noise, remove your resonator.

can you elaborate more on this "Just run a dryer hose from the intake manifold and zip tie it under the front bumper"

So your saying that intake won't create any sound ? My friend put an intake in his v4 Accord and it sounds great

what is a V4? Maybe I4?

You make yourself sound silly saying that all you want it sound and not performance.

Your car has 6 cylinders and a WRX has 4 cylinders, therefore, it isn't going to sound the same. The whole reason behind the "sound" you are looking for is supposed to be performance.

Anyway, for some performance parts, you have to fork out some money and do some research.

OK, here is some info...

Get a warspspeed intake like Harv said (www.warpspeedperformance.com). If you don't have the funds for that, buy a Mass Air Flow adapter and cone filter. Look on ebay for the MAF adapter for a 300zx (I think that one will work) The ones that say they are for a Maxima don't fit right. If you don't want a "foam" air filter, go to you nearest Autozone and buy a real K&N one.

While you are on the warpspeed site, look at their exhaust systems for a 3rd generation Maxima with a VG engine (that's what you have in your GXE). The most restrictive part of your exhaust is going to be your y-pipe and if you want more performance, get that. After that, the catalytic converter and the cat-back need to be upgraded. If you only put on a muffler, you are doing very little for your car.

If you can't afford the set up from warpspeed (and it sounds like you don't care much about performance, anyway), go to your nearest muffler shop and ask them how much to do a full exhaust from your catalytic converter back (cat-back) in 2.5" pipe with a resonator and muffler. This is probably the cheapest way to do it if you can't afford the whole set up.

You will have to chose a muffler and I would recommend Magnaflow (best quality for the price). Internetautomart on this site sells that stuff and he can probably get you a pretty good deal. The shop will mount the muffler and resonator on there for you, too.

Don't rice out a perfectly good Maxima just to make it "sound powerful". Sometimes the best mods are the ones that can't be seen or heard...

wut r u talking about man. My maxima is an old **** with so many 165,000 miles and its automatic. I don't want to increase the speed. I just want the intake to have a loud rumbling sound.

Besides, the only way you will get that "rumble" is by having an opposed cylinder engine...

what spipedong means is that the WRX has a special BOXER engine very much like the one found in the Porsche Boxter. You are not going to get that sound out of your Maxima, not matter what exhaust you install

By the pulses from the order in which the cylinders open.
ALSO the "Boxer" engine is NOT a typical 4 cylinder layout. it has a layout like the letter H rather than all in a row like a typical 4 cylinder
So it has a Y pipe like a V type motor.
Ever notice how a V-6 sounds different than an L6?
