Huh? Dude you CANNOT put another amp anyway....Bose HU's are proprietary. So why do you need someone else's amp when it will have the same power as your existing one?

I am scratching my head......

if i remember correctly the bose amps put out about 1 ohm so they would tear something up if hooked up to normal speakers. plus, if you hook them up to a non stock head unit at a low volume on the head unit they will play very, very... very loud. i was messing around with mine and hooked them up to my alpine and at volume 4 it almost hurt my ears (i have it at about 8-10 for normal listening levels).

your best bet would be to find a cheap lower power amp on ebay or something.

btw, my brother said to try posting your paintball gun on www.paintballclassifieds.com you might sell it pretty quick there.

yeah bose speakers/amps put out about 1 ohm, aftermarket hu's and speakers use from 4-2 ohm,

ive said it plenty of times before, and ill say it again, tear it all out, get a new hu, speakers, and youd be much happier with newer technology

I completely agree with these ^^ two guys. I replaced my HU with a Pioneer Premier unit, but resisted having to replace my speakers (i was using a firmware device to make the HU work with factory amps), but in a week or so, I gave up. Replaced all four speakers with JBLs and have never been more satisfied!

REPLACE YOUR WHOLE SETUP!

Try to get JBL 6x9 for rears. I have them and they are great! If you want to stick with Pioneers, they even make a set of 5-way 6x9's!

Of course you will like them better than stockies....pull out the stock and set them side-by-side with the aftermarket and you will visually tell how crappy the stocks are!

BTW, I strongly recommend that you put 6.5's up front. PM Jeff92SE as he makes pods that fit those. The brackets you get from Nissan will only take 4x6s and they are worst speakers ever made!

just for your unfo an amplifier CANNOT put out 1ohm that makes no sence. on the other hand the amp can be hooked up to a 1ohm speaker which is proboly what your talking about and you can hook up a 4ohm speaker to a bose amp but lets just say that if the bose amp is putting 40watts in to a 1ohm speaker its only going to put about 10watts into a 4ohm speaker so you have no improvment in sound, and your right if you hook up the speaker level (high level) output of you alpine radio to the (low level) input on the bose amp its gona play alot louder. that like turning the gain up un a regular amp only amagine turning that screw on the side about 5 times instead of 1 its going to get alot lot louder, you will most likly also blow the input circuit of the bose amp very quickly putting that much juice through it. it would work fine if you steped the signal down to normal with a line output converter or a special amp integration harness that uses the rca outputs from your radio to feed signal to the amp.

I put a Kenwood deck in mine. Used the factory speakers (BOSE). They don't sound worth a poooo. They sounded a lot better with the factory deck. Tried everything to adjust the deck to make it better. nothing seems to help. Are those little amps just worthless without the deck or what.

See, your Kenwood is putting out 3-4 ohm signal and Bose puts out 1ohm, as others have said too. Kenwood alone is way more powerful, even at 20 x 4 RMS than the Bose unit, so speakers are helpless and overloaded. Put in aftermarket speakers (you can use all factory wiring....just by-pass the rear speaker amps with a patched wire....do the same upfront unless you want to splice factory connectors) and you'll be fine.

If any of you guys have a functioning bose head unit from a 92-94, I'd like to have it. Doesn't have to be perfect. Just working.

I do, but it's seen better days, and it's only a single din unit

I'd prefer to find a good double din unit, but if I can't get one, I may just want to replace the one I have to get a working display and all the buttons.

Hey, it's James92SE that makes the speaker pods, not Jeff, unless Jeff just started making them.

If you dig through my cardomain site, I have a picture of them.

Yes, and you can either do it the super neat way, or a neat-enough, functional way. For the former, circuitcity.com sells speaker harnesses that just plug into your main speaker harness after unhooking from the factory amps. The other ends are +ve -ve kind so they just slide onto the speaker connectors.

I did it the other way, by patching the speaker harness with a foot of speaker cable and inserting its stripped ends into the correct points in the harness, taping them really tight, and leaving the ground connectors alone. Then I slipped female connectors on the other end and made it work that way. If you go this route, make sure you tape everything real well to the bottom of the hatshelf. Same bypass process upfront....just tape it all to the door when you are done, to secure them.

And yeah....you may know this already, but the rear 6x9s are bottom-loaded.

PUHHHHLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZE throw away the factory 6x9s.....they belong only in a dumpster.
