What kind of performance clutch do you guys recommend?

I'm replacing my tranny soon and I'd like to do the clutch at the same time. What clutches have you all put in your maximas, and what do you recommend? I'm considering tuboing the max w/in the next year or so, and I'd like to get a clutch that could handle that if I chose to do it. Here are the clutches that I would consider buying:

Thanks for the info.

If your serious about doing a turbo, then I would say Spec. I have an Exedy Stage 1 and I love it.

spec stageIII. a friend of mine has it, its a little heavy, very grippy, incredible driveability. i have an exedy stageI and i dont feel its aggressive enough. it is however VERY smooth, which i like but it just doesnt grab hard/fast enough for me.

i have a centerforce dual friction and it just kills the tires. i find it more comfortable to drive than the stock clutch i had before. the pedal is not tough but it grabs really good. all my friends tend to get in my car and forget about the clutch hehe. i didnt have to pay much for mine and if your not going to run a ton of power (360 tq +) thru it, it will be mint

I was thinking about getting a new clutch but it is hard to make a decision which one to pick and am looking for street and racing clutch. Probably exedy or spec.

I have an ACT (since February) and I have had no problems with it so far. I am pretty hard on it, too. It is definitely better than the stock one.

I'm still trying to decide, I ordered the tranny today for $735 shipped w/ 34,000 miles, cool. I think I'll go with a mild clutch for now because if I turbo I'll be running low boost until I rebuild the motor, then I'll get an even stronger clutch. I think I may go with Exedy stage I. I read that centerforce has had some problems and ACT is hard on the tranny because it is harsh.

Thanks vwink182, I'm still waiting to complete the deal, but the auction went better than expected I may come over there and take your fog lights off if you don't do it first

I just put in the ACT. Its PRETTY grabby. I've never really driven a manual beofre though. I can shift smooth if I pay attention, but its a lot stiffer than my friends 2K stock Max.

i have a spec stage 3 on my turbo setup and i'm not too sure about it yet. it has slipped on my 3 times already causing my rpm's to launch to 6500+ rpm... i'm not sure if something is out of adjustment or what but at the moment i'm not very pleased at all. it does feel very grippy yet streetable however its not working to its full potential yet.

Hmmm, its hard to decide which one to get because I've heard bad remarks about ACT, centerforce, exedy, and spec stage 3. Thanks for the info, I'll have to do some more reading on these and decide, I just want to get a quality clutch that I won't have problems with.

Maybe you should just get a stock replacement one.
Performance Clutches are not always the best choices for daily driven cars.

That's a good suggestion, but I wonder how it would do with some mild boost. If I go turbo I'm going to start with low boost on my current motor and eventually rebuild. Maybe I'll just get a performance clutch when I do the rebuild. Does anyone know how well a stock clutch will hold up to some mild boost?

i have the centerforce dual friction and i havent had any problems and i have never slipped once even with aggresive tires. wether i launch at 2500 or 4500 the clutch grabs and quote "kills the tires". i dont have any experienc with any of the other centerforce clutches but the dual friction i think is really nice. though a bit tiring in rush hour traffic. if you were near me i could sell you one or an ACT at my shop. but whatever, i know internetautomar
would be happy to hook you up with one

That will most probably depend on the quality of the clutch.
I know that the Sachs brand that I sell is O.E. to Porsche so that is a thought.
