Just Put on used body kit

Hey Bought this from uneek1 and I was almost charged $200 to put it on to see what it looked like but, I did it myself instead. What is the name of some strong 3M double sided tape for the real fit? I have a shop quote of $450 to fiberglass the back and paint the kit, is that a good price? More pics on Cardomain in signature. Peace

by fiberglass the back do you mean have them mold it on? because I would advise against that and $450 just for mounting the kit and paint seems way to cheap forget about doing any custom work to it, I find a few other shops and get quotes. remember when it comes to stuff like this 99.99% of the time you get what you pay for.

You can mount the kit yourself for like 5 bucks ( the cost of screws)

Dont know the details. I have screws holding the back on every 2 feet or so, thats why I want to smooth it out. I dont know what the material is but its very flexible.

you put the screws through the outside of the kit? Really the best way to do it is a screw on each end in the wheel well then two screws in the plate cut out and 3m tape around the whole thing

1) are you building a show car? if not then don't waste your money molding the kit on. picture this, your car gets hit on the rear quarter panel. how do they fix it? they have to kill the mold job just to get the bumper/kit off

2) you screwed through the outside of the kit? the screws are supposed to go on on the inside of the two wheel wells and the tape is used to go around the rest to hold it on. the kit is designed to actually sit in the crease that's in the bumper so tape is sufficient...

3) the material is urethane

you can also put in a pop rivet from the outside and use some duramix and fill it in later on. it helps to retain the kit on the bumper. less chance of sagging. when you rely on tape...it'll tend to sag a little over time.

that looks nice, and will look great when its painted...you should drop that as soon as you can then itll look sick...then tint your corners, lose the spoiler and the windows vents...or just drop it!

yes. drop the car. and consider different wheels. you have now a bodykit that implies race car. and the current wheels are sort of over-the-top and distracting.

but you did great. the stillen kit is clean looking and complitments the 3rd gen's body pretty nicely. i like your cf b-pillar things.

Thanks everybody. Im def gonna drop the car just waiting for a deal on Eibachs. I'm not going to mold the back anymore, thanks for the tip about the bumber being replaced. Yes it will be a show- type of car. The rims stay. I love 'em. they are the perfect style for me. I just wish they were chrome. The body kit makes the car ride even smoother, I wasnt expecting that! There is no 3m tape left on the kit so I used the screws because thats the only way I could test fit the joint. They were already holes in the kit from the previous owner doing this so I figured couldnt make it worse right? Im looking for some strong tape, but rivets might work too. As far as the wing, Im going to trade trunk lids with another charcoal max without spoiler for $40, and then get a nice wing. What is some strong stuff to use on the back of the kit though??

This is OT, but your car is friggin awesome now. Looks 10x better without the wing (I did like the wing, but prefer the spoilerless look) and those wheels set off
the whole car

Thats true too, I was just checking the wing on and off tha trunk and it does look better off, but I like the shaved center piece too. It makes the back look cold!!
