spark plugs the culprit?

I bought some bosch platinum basic plugs when I first bought the '91 5spd Maxima with 138k on it. Since then I have replaced the following:
fuel injectors
fuel filter
O2 sensor
water temp sensor
EGR valve
cleaned MAF sensor
vacuum lines
PCV valve

My question is this: Is this why my maxima seems so sluggish when its warmed up and a little hesitant when merging on the hwy? How much do these plugs affect the maximas?

i can tell you that you shouldn't run bosch plugs. only run ngk's in these cars.

when i first got my max it had bosch platinum 4's and sometimes after it was warmed up and i shut it down it didn't want to start again. I changed the plugs to some ngk's and it hasn't done it sense.

You skipped cap, rotor and plug wires. Start there.

Yeah, cap, rotor and plug wires were replaced when I bought the car 10k miles ago.

I just started getting horrible gas mileage this tank, 27 miles and its almost at the 3/4 tank marking. Only thing I did diff last time was use the chevron with techron fuel cleaner like I always do every 3k miles. The gas guage does seem to always want to stay between half and 1/4 for some reason. I don't know whats going on here.

v-powers get the job done. you don't really need any sort of high end, expensive spark plug for it to work right.

can't really gain too much power from spark plugs unless you ugprade your whole ignition system (better coil, wires, and plugs). basically, you aren't going to get much more spark out of the plugs unless you are pushing more power through your coils and wires to create more spark.

even then, the gains are usually negligable unless you have so much fuel going through that the regular setup can't ignite it.

Exactly. Just make sure they are gapped correctly, as this will affect the car more than the spark plug quality.

I've been running Bosch 4's in my 90 SE for over a year now. And have only one problem come up with them, and seems to effect both the VG VE motors. After some time, the engine begins to miss a little. The Bosch 4's tend to lose their gap farely easy.

Has anyone tried running Denso's yet? I've used them in my 2.4L before, and was quite impressed. I'm just wondering if I'll get the same response I did with my truck.

I have bosch+4's on my 90 GXE. My car also misses a little. I am thinking of getting V-Power or something better.

I installed the V-powers yesterday and they work pretty good. It missed maybe twice in the first 20min I drove it. This morning it did great. The plugs I took out looked worn as hell. My car has 155K. The V-powers are definitely worth $10 for all 6.
