I should be getting my FSTB today. (my very first mod)

I'm a really newbie at all of this...could I install it myself? and how can I be sure that I did it right? or is it a no brainer install?

it's simple
just remove 3 bolts from each strut tower, put the bar on, and replace the bolts

no brainer. just unbolt the three nuts at the top of each strut. line up the strut bar, lay it on there and bolt away.

here you go...

tools:
14mm socket wrench
adjustable crescent wrench
torque wrench

the car was flat on the ground when I did the installation.

1. use 14mm wrench, remove the 6 strut tower nuts
2. do a preliminary adjustment for width. twist the ring braces (the C shaped ends that go on the strut tower bolts) to adjust the width
3. on one side (I did passenger side first), put a ring brace onto the bolts and screw the nuts on to hold it in place but don’t tighten completely
4. go to the other side and make final width adjustment with the ring brace so it can fit over the bolts . screw nuts on but don’t tighten completely
5. make sure the bends of the FSTB are towards the top. use adjustable crescent wrench, tighten centering nuts on each end against the brace itself
6. use the torque wrench and torque the 6 strut tower nuts to 35 ft-lbs
7. use adjustable crescent wrench to tighten nut on bolt that connects strut tower brace to the ring braces

done!

good luck

andy

Re: here you go...

Hey thanks for the detailed instructions, Andy. I really appreciate it.

As I'm sure anyone else would, I wanted to be sure that I do it right the first time.

Thanks again.

Make sure that the car is on a level surface.
