HELP!! Extremely Loud "clicking" after changing injectors

I just finished changing my fuel injectors today, and when I started it up, there was an extremely loud clicking sound. It increases as the RPM increases. And if I let the car sit for about 40 seconds, the RPM will slowly fall and the car will die. Everything was on the car, except the cooling fan.
It is coming from the engine (dah), but it is very very loud. Kinda sounds like if you put bolts in a plastic cup, and shake them like crazy.

I lost one of the lower air intake manifold hex bolts, and had to buy a new one. Could it be that it fell into the engine manifold??? i dont wanna have to take it all apart again.....Right now that is the only thing that I could think of..

What could it be???????

I'll agree with your bolt in the intake theory

Find that bolt or take it apart.

If the bolt is in the valves, would that cause the RPM to go decrease and die after about 40 seconds of running smooth (other than the clicking)?

Well I'll probably take everything apart tomorrow. 2 questions:
1) Is there any order to tighten/loosent the red rocker arm covers? I dont see the FSM specifying an order.
2) I think I'll just replace the valve cover gaskets while they're off. Should I use a some black RTV sealant on the new gaskets?

Update: I took off everything today that I removed, Lower & Upper intake manifold, and Engine intake manifold. I found no bolt under the intake manifold. Then I was thinking, if I did drop the 6 mm hex bolt in the intake manifold, would'nt it be too big to go into the combustion chamber? And if not, how would it end up in the valves? I did not remove the valve covers when I changed the fuel injectors??I am probably going to remove the valve covers tomorrow anyways. I also realized that I had not but back the fan, when I started the car, and the deep clicking sound was heard, but I dont think that would cause the sound..(I removed the fan and radiator, so I could stand between the engine and frame while changing the injectors)

all help/advice is really appreciated.

The bolt could have fallen into the intake runners on the head.

would that cause the rpm to decrease and eventually turn off after about 40 seconds unless I held the throttle open??
does that mean I have to pull the heads?

use a magnetized screw driver and feel around in the intake holes. if something is hanging on the screw driver, theres your problem! i dropped one of the bolts in there and just about kicked myself but used the above method to get it out

in the heads you have intake runners, the screw / bolt / whatever could have fallen in there.
Try fishing around in there with a magnet to see if anything comes out

if all else fails,
drain the oil and if you here a *thunk* into the drain pan, you've solved one problem.

ouch. first mistake was putting everything back together without finding that bolt first. What I did when i took mine apart was I cut cardboard pieces in the shape of the holes to block anything from falling in. Saves a ton of heart ache.

May be you have two completely different problems. 1. You dropped the damn bolt inside(noise). 2. You had a vacuume(however it is spelled) leak that you didn't hear(cause of the load noise). When I changed my injectors I had one and the car would die after 10-15 sec. So, my advice to you is find whatever is clicking and put it back togather. Follow the torque specs and the correct order!!! Hope it works out....
