It's in the 20s on my way to and from work lately. My car won't reach normal operating temp unless I'm sitting at a stop light for an extended period of time. It's only getting 1/4 - 1/2 of the way up to the normal operating temp. I had the coolant completely flushed over a year ago and it is to spec. The lines aren't frozen or anything. What gives?

 

Perhaps your thermostat is stuck in the open position... try changing it.

Chilton has a very bad pic, section 3-15, on VG30E... Directly above water pump. Just open thermostat housing.

CHanging the thermostat in a VG30e motor is the biggest pain in the a$$ I have ever seen!! Its f-ing horrible mate. You will have to take ALOT of stuff out to get to it including distributor, all kinds of hoses and sensors, wires, and also the bolts are on there pretty dang tight! so have some special tools with you. Good luck I spent over 3 hours changing mine last night

 

There is no need to take out any sensors nor the distributer. But it's doable with enough confidence. Just go slow and don't over react. Pick up a haynes at a parts store. You only need a few wrenchs and sockets, and a 2" socket extension. These are NOT special tools. Their the basics.

Beats the hell outta a $300 garage deal.
