The only way to really bost a VG is to get a z31 (pre-90) 300zx turbo engine. It's the same engine except turbocarged. You could also put on all the turbo gadetry from the 300zx onto your engine, but both ways require some custom work.

imo... very worth it... but i'm a maxima nut so it just depends on how much work you're ready to put into it.

do u need to rip out the z31 ECU to go with it as well? any need for rewiring of anything? and i'm assuming the stock auto trans won't be sufficient anymore would it?

z31 ecu won't work, its an older design. you're best bet is to piggy back the stock one, tune it yourself with the zemulator or romulator, or you can send it in to jwt.

the auto tranny probably wouldn't last too long but you should be able to get it built to handle the power. just have to throw down quite a bit of money to do it.

Still not as extreme as me wanting to stuff the new 3.5L in my car. Just waiting on the lottery... then I'll have all the money I need to get it done... LOL

"note" so I don't get my butt reamed for it . This swap is impossible without the funds, knowledge, and plain insanity needed. I just need the funds. Insanity and knowledge are readily available...

on top of that... the VQ35's don't seem to be all that strong... 350Z guys seem to be blowing engines all of the time. the VQ30's seem to be much stronger but nothing beats the VG30DETT (note: this would also take some crazy money to make work... and i'm going to do it sometime )

I have most of the stuff you would need to turbo your VG (you need a fuel pump, T3 actuator or external wastegate (my plan was to run external) and some for of fuel management, plus you would need someone to make your piping unless you can do it yourself)

300ZX T3 turbo(very minimal shaft play) and DSM side mount intercooler

1G DSM blow off valve with vacuum line, Manual boost controller with an extra 10ft. of vacuum line to hook it or other misc. items up

300ZX turbo manifolds (heat painted black) crossover and downpipe with 02 sensor

87+ 300ZX Turbo side feed injectors

$600 and ill give you the maxima.org triple gauge pod loaded with autometer phantom gauges: boost, trans. temp and A/F ratio

pm me if interested

would it be possible to drop a 90+ twin-turbo engine into the max?

Not really... Thats the vg30dett motor mentioned earlier... its just too big to fit. It could be done with lots of time and or money... might as well just get the 300zx and have rwd.
