Flooded car

Hey guys,

i was driving today, and i ran into a bit of a problem. I tried to cross a small river, but then it dropped off and i soaked my interior, and my engine stalled. I opened the air intake box, and water poored out of it. When i try to start the engine, it cranks a turn, then stops. what should i do???

Remove all sparkplugs. Crank engine. Note the Biagio water show until water stops flying out of the plug holes. Put plugs back in. Pray to the god or gods of your choice and start the car.

- stop watching telly stuntmen...
- drip 'n dry
- buy boat for next river crossings

As already told, make sure u did not brake u engine block: plugs off and compression tests... If ok, proceed. If not, buy new block 500$.

Next is to dry all micropools: there are hundreds of locations where water seeps in and makes short circuit. ECU inputs short, ECU goes berserk. Water will not go out without opening those connectors, sensors etc, blasting dry...

To get an impression of the boat u drive, peek: http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/748507/14

my throttle still freezes up, door locks freeze, doors freeze shut, computer inside is a little whacked out- so it wont upshift nicely-or go past 2500 RPM, seats still a little wet. other than that it runs great.

Water in the combustion chamber. Water is not compressible. Piston + water + heads = not enough space. Piston can no longer move. Or piston will attempt to move anyway. So something has to give. Most of the time, the water wins.

you are VERY lucky your motor didnt hydrolock.... usually if a motor stalls when flooded, youre screwed..... even though it still runs, keep an ear out and listen because something still may be messed up (other than the ECU)

if the car is flooded that bad, MANY electronics might have been shorted out, fuses shot, etc....Poor car....even though it had been submerged by its owner, still loves him enough to run in limp home mode and still gathers enough power to take the abuse. Anyone got a tissue? (no, not for my one eyed snake your sick ****)
