Roo Bars

You don't put Roo Bars on a FWD sedan unless you live in the Outback. Living in San Diego, you have no need for those.
Also going by the fact your profile says you're 16 yrs old and you have problmes colliding with objects, then you need to:
1. go back to driver's ed and learn how to use the steering wheel and brakes
2. stop drinking
3. stop driving

Haha, it's not a problem of colliding with objects, I just hate getting into a parking lot, and finding that there is a shopping cart blocking your way or something. So, you have to get out of the car, push it to the side, get back in, continue moving. However, with roo bars, you could just nudge it out of the way.
Also, it would look interesting. I think police cruisers sometimes have them. Certainly don't see it on sedans very often.
Anyway, back to my question. Would there be any way to do it, without making a completely custom mount? And, how would I go about mounting it to the front of the car? It needs to be placed fairly securely (obviously), so does the max already have mounts like this?

only if you live in australia.
just get out of the freakin car and move the cart.. life's too short to be a lazy bum.
and next time you walk a cart out to the parking lot, just put the damn things back in the cage where they go. the less you leave out there, the less other people will.

I don't want my car to be anywhere near yours when you "gently" push that shopping cart out of the way.
In any case, police cruisers are (were anyway) full-framed, heavier cars more suited to pushing things around. All you will probably do with a bush guard or push bars is dent your bumper.

Man, some of you guys have a lot of free time on your hands to make all those pics.... Anyway... Ivan - I know what you are talking about. I have been toying with the idea of making some kind of front brushguard/pushbar for my max. Right now I am living in Alabama, and there are all kinds of animals that love to run out in the road - deer, dogs, armadillos, rabbits, possums, you name it. I had an armadillo take out my flex section and a giant rabbit (like 10-15lbs) take out the passenger side of the airdam and destroy a fog light (a Bosch Pilot at that, hard to find replacements). What I have in mind is something that would start at bumper height and go down, protecting the fog lights. I am also planning on making some aluminum or SS engine shrouds to replace those flimsy plastic ones. As far as I know, no one makes anything quite like what I'm looking for - so I will end up having to build my own.
I've seen all kinds of things that you guys out there do to your cars that I would never do, but who am I to put down your ideas/vision. Simply stated - if you don't like it, don't worry. You don't have to drive it! I don't think you should just tear into the kid because he had an idea for his car -- but when someone signs on to ask how to change a sparkplug or add brake fluid, by all means, flame away!

well there's a difference in a functional modification like preventing wasckly wabbit damage and something assinine like a huge pusher on the front so you can push shopping carts out of the way because you're too damn lazy to just park in the next space away form the building.

Never thought I'd see the day where a post was so full of SugarHoneyIcedTea, that it fairly reeks of
I guess what I'm curious about is... in all the posts on this thread, aside from the reply from 90pearlSE, did I see even ONCE anyone make note that it's his choice whatever he wants to do with/for his car. And while, yes, the argument can be made that he's posting on an "open forum", subject to the opinions - good or bad - regarding his (or anyone's) choices, who are we to tell this guy that he's a friggin' idiot for even suggesting this?
And Matt... the one person on the entire .org-y (with the slight exception being Jeff and/or Mike H.) that can say "the world will end at 7:49pm next Tuesday - sell your Maximas..." and I wouldn't give much thought about and just do it - cuz I got that much respect for your opinions... How can you call this guy "lazy" ?? Isn't that a bit harsh?
Let me be devil's advocate here for a sec and let's say that he has a physical disability which limits his mobility. And let's also say that said shopping cart is sitting in the handicapped parking spot because someone ELSE was "too damn lazy" to take it where it belongs?? Does that make this guy lazy?
Sorry for putting that out there like that Matt... I'll always have your back in all things [and if anyone says different, I'm gonna ].
I guess I just find it crazy that the same people that preach individualism in their expressions of what they do (or don't do) with their cars, seem to be the same people that "roast" others for making suggestions or asking questions that are not in tune with what THEY deem as being asthetically pleasing or a functional modification.
I don't particularly like 5-spoke rims (and it's been WELL-documented here) and have a personal - and probably scathing - opinion about them. Just as I know that some people don't like my headlights... or my wheels... or the TV screens in my car. Fact of the matter is, it's MY opinion of what I think would look nice on MY car. Besides, didn't he say "...I think they look kinda cool"
guess I'm through preaching to the choir for now...

in even a minor front end collision with another vehicle, I hope you realize you can kiss your front end goodbye as the brush guard folds down on your hood.Especially since we have no frame to mount it to. even then it wouldnt matter because the top 90% of the gaurd isnt supported, just the bottom portion where its mounted to the car.
Not telling you what you can or cant do, just stating facts. Do as you will.

I have also been looking for a roo bar for my Maxima as well. I study in Adelaide (South Australia) and often visit my folks, they live about 40kms outside the town of Leigh Creek which is about 600kms North of Adelaide.
Often on this trip I come bloody close to hitting kangaroos, they just jump out from the trees on the side of the road, and with no mobile phone reception and little traffic it could be a bit of a wait if the radiator is stuffed.
Ive been looking on eBay and ringing around but no-one seems to have built one for the Maxima, so it looks like i need to get a custom (expensive) one, or get a Australian made car, cos there are plenty of bars for them.
My parent's Camry has a roo bar the same as the Type 8 bar in this link Camry/Avalon roo bar This would be a perfect bar for the Maxima.

- Moose collision [real hazard here]
- elephant s*itting on hood
- heaven falling down [=glob all war ming -muppetshow]
- Speeding kang & roos hittin my back
- all kinds of carts
- laziness
- cast on my right foot
...and eagles. Actually barely missed an eagle in portugal the other day. Luckily nobody was coming and I could sverve left. ---There was somebody elses roo -flattened rabbit he was diving after.
Btw. I dont think here anybody is putting anybody down. If somebody writes publicly something, he has to stand also joking/commenting which is all legal.
Have fun and enjoy roo bars - will never add those on maxima, btw. But for virile young machos installing em', why not? Kills definitely all pedestrians...
In my blk dream jeep heli they come ready installed...
